Income requirements by household size

Your household income must fall within the following ranges to qualify:

•  1-person household: $36,220–$56,220

•  2-person household: $44,260–$64,260

•  3-person household: $52,300–$72,300

Program highlights

Applying for the Mueller Affordable Housing Program requires specific documentation to verify your eligibility. Here’s what you’ll need to gather before starting your application.

Proof of employment and income

You must provide two full months of paystubs. If you have recently started a new job and do not yet have paystubs, you may submit a signed offer letter — however, you will be required to provide two full months of paystubs after your start date to verify that you meet the income requirements. Please, note that per the Mueller Affordable Housing Program, you must show proof of employment and work a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Self-employed applicants

If you are self-employed, you will need to submit a Profit & Loss statement along with four months of bank statements. Additionally, HomeBase will require two years of tax return transcripts, which can be downloaded from the IRS website.

Bank statements

All applicants must provide three consecutive months of checking and savings account statements. These must be full statements, not just account activity summaries.

Security deposit

A refundable $500 security deposit is required at the time of leasing. There is no application fee.

HomeBase Intake Form

HomeBase works with the City of Austin to conduct the final review and issue approval for the Mueller Affordable Housing Program. Below are instructions for filling it out.

As part of your application, you will need to complete the HomeBase Intake Form. Here are some helpful notes for filling it out:

• Page 1: Fill out all fields, then sign and date.
• Page 3: Sign and date.
• Page 6: Use this form to document any deposits on your bank statements over $100, excluding internal account transfers or payroll deposits. Note whether each deposit is one-time or recurring so it can be included in your overall income calculation if applicable. Sign and date the bottom.
• Page 7 (Eligibility Questionnaire): Answer YES or NO to how you receive income. Sign and date the bottom.
• Pages 8–10: Leave Form A blank — this is completed by the property. On Form B, add your gross estimated income and sign the bottom. Leave Form C blank unless applicable.
