As people snooze their alarm clocks for the third time before lazily crawling out of bed to begin their day, there’s one thing that’s always waiting for them, breakfast. And while some might grab some cereal or a muffin before heading out the door, those who have the time to get a solid meal in before their days begin often times stay fuller for longer periods of time and are more alert than their peers. Luckily, Atlanta has a plethora of breakfast spots to get your day started off right, all nestled closely to our Old Fourth Ward Park apartments.
Atlanta Breakfast Club
249 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. NW
Bacon, eggs and pancakes, oh my! Known for its melt-in-your-mouth soul food and friendly staff, Atlanta Breakfast Club is the perfect spot to start your morning off and add some pep to your step. Located just on the other side of downtown and only 10-minutes from our Intown lofts, you can find food ranging from savory Southern classics to modern breakfast dishes with a unique twist. For the health gurus out there, their yogurt with freshly baked granola or old fashioned oatmeal is sure to hit the spot. For those of you looking for something a bit more hearty, indulge in options such as their crispy fried chicken and waffles. The drool-worthy breakfast tacos are another option. They’re made with French toast-battered tortillas and stuffed with smoked pork bacon, scrambled eggs and house syrup. With all meals typically less than 5, you can satisfy not only your hunger, but also your wallet.
The Flying Biscuit Cafe
1001 Piedmont Ave. NE
The Flying Biscuit Cafe has been serving breakfast during all day for over 25 years now. Starting off in Candler Park on the east side of Atlanta, they’ve managed to grow to 20 locations in Georgia, North Carolina, Florida and Texas. The robust menu make things a bit hard to choose, so we recommend showing up on an empty stomach. Some of their menu choices can be seen below:
- Meggxican Wrap: Scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, onions and peppers wrapped up into a flour tortilla and topped with warm salsa and sour cream.
- Heavenly French Toast: Two thick-slices of whole wheat bread dipped in batter and topped with raspberry sauce and honey creme anglaise.
- Crab Cake Benedict: An English muffin topped with homemade crab cakes, two over medium eggs, grits and hollandaise sauce.
For beverage options, you’ll be happy to know that the Flying Biscuit serves up your typical coffee, juice and tea options, but also includes festive breakfast cocktails for those of you looking to spice things up.
Sun in My Belly
2161 College Ave. NE
A breakfast and lunch cafe, Sun in My Belly is located in the Kirkwood neighborhood and 10 minutes from our Intown apartments. Open from 8am-3pm every day, their menu choices range from sweet to savory and everything in between. And with menu items for the kids, this is a great place to bring the entire family. Some of their most delicious items include house-made lavender biscuit and the belly benedict, consisting of two poached eggs served with chipotle hollandaise, sweet potato and honey-glazed bacon hash, all nestled on top of a scrumptious buttermilk biscuit. Known for its long waits on the weekends, we recommend getting there early to secure your spot. Be mindful, they don’t take reservations!
