AMLI North Point Working Toward LEED Certification

by
Sep 28th, 2012

September 30, 2012, Alpharetta, GA – AMLI North Point apartments, a new community in Alpharetta, GA, has joined the green movement and is currently being built for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification. What is LEED Certification? A project is awarded LEED Certification when it meets LEED prerequisites and credit categories, determined by the U.S. Green Building Council, and earns a minimum 40 points on a 110-point LEED rating system scale. Prerequisites include factors such as compliance with all environmental laws and regulations and occupancy scenarios. Points are distributed across credit categories such as Water Efficiency and Sustainable Sites. All of these add up to determine if a project is environmentally efficient enough to be awarded LEED Certification. AMLI North Point is working toward LEED certification with the following features: Digital Thermostats – A digital thermostat is accurate to +/-0.1°C and ensures reliable and efficient temperature regulation. Solar Shades – Solar Shades are roller shades that are manufactured using fabric that is designed to reduce glare, reduce infrared heat gain and provide privacy while still maintaining a view outside for inhabitants. ENERGY STAR® Appliances – Appliances that receive an ENERGY STAR® rating use less energy, save occupants more money and are better for the environment. Low VOC Paint and Adhesives – Paints and adhesives with low volatile organic compounds (VOC) levels help to protect the environment and eliminate the health risks associated with products that contain this matter in a high amount. Dual Flush Toilets – Dual flush toilets handle solid and liquid waste differently than a standard toilet and this aids in conserving water. Smoke Free – AMLI North Point is entirely smoke free, which enhances the indoor and outdoor air quality into the community. More features are being researched, tested and implemented at AMLI North Point, which can be better understood by AMLI Green Scene. AMLI Residential believes in minimizing the impact that their developments have on the environment and that’s where AMLI Green Scene steps in. This Green Task Force is compromised of the builder’s Living Green and Building Green standards that all AMLI developments are striving to achieve, or have already accomplished. In a day and age where the environmental impact needs to be taken into consideration invariably, AMLI Residential is doing its part to pursuit sustainable development.
