With lights strung on building eaves and smells of holiday spice present, the holiday season is in full swing. Have you done your holiday shopping yet?
The exceptional Artisan Market at Cobb Galleria Centre wrapped up yesterday, but thankfully will be followed by a number of other great opportunities to do one-of-a-kind holiday gift shopping. If you still have gifts to buy or want to immerse yourself in the holiday spirit, here are a few holiday markets and events you can experience without venturing too far from your Atlanta apartment.
ICE Holiday Pop-Up Shop
The venerable Indie Craft Experience is hosting a holiday pop-up shop in the ICE Studio at Candler Park. From now until December 23, 2015, you can browse through handcrafted items fashioned by more than 70 talented artisans. The holiday pop-up shop is just a five-minute drive from AMLI Ponce Park, AMLI Old 4th Ward, and AMLI Parkside.
Spruill Gallery Holiday Arts Market
Another holiday market where you can shop until the last minute, the Spruill Gallery Holiday Arts Market is flush with works of art and handcrafted goods, both decorative and functional. The goods for sale are diverse in nature, and almost all locally made. Shop for mugs, jewelry, one-of-a-kind stuffed animals, table centerpieces, wall art, and more.
This upcoming Saturday (December 12) is Handmade Gift Bazaar Day at the gallery. If you do decide to save your holiday shopping until the last minute, you’ll have a smaller selection to choose from but can get 20 percent off anything you purchase on December 23. The gallery is a short drive from the Buckhead luxury apartments at AMLI Lindbergh.
Swan Coach House Gallery
Are any of your loved ones serious art appreciators? If your shopping for paintings or photographs, plan a trip to the Swan Coach House Gallery between now and January 6, 2016. The gallery, featuring hundreds of contemporary and traditional works of art created by Atlanta area artists, is open Tuesdays through Saturdays. Drawings, paintings, photographs, and sculptures are among the works of art you’ll find at the Buckhead gallery, a 15-minute drive from the Intown lofts at AMLI Parkside, AMLI Old 4th Ward, and AMLI Ponce Park and also nearby AMLI Lindbergh.
Fulton County Holiday Crafts and Arts Market
From noon to 4 PM on Saturday, December 12, 2015, the South Fulton Arts Center will be one of the best places in the Atlanta area to find handcrafted gifts. Buy from local vendors, hone your artistic side through participation in workshops, and be entertained by holiday performances put on by local groups. The event, southeast of Atlanta, is free, family-friendly, and open to the public.
Ponce City Market Holiday Shopping
If you want a one-stop destination to do all of your holiday shopping, check out the recently revitalized Ponce City Market. Shop for clothes, accessories, home furnishings, decor, active gear, and more. Joining the specialty stores and boutiques for fashion and home that have opened in Ponce City Market over the past year are Alex and Ani, an eco-conscious boutique jeweler, and the Citizen Supply artisan marketplace.
Citizen Supply just opened a couple weeks ago and features small-batch clothing and jewelry designed by local and national makers. Ponce City Market is no more than a few minutes’ walk from AMLI’s Poncey Highlands apartments.
Find thoughtful, original gifts for your loved ones by shopping artisan at one or more of these Atlanta holiday markets. Your gifts will be appreciated, and you’ll feel good about supporting the local economy. Can you think of an easier and more fun way to spread joy and holiday cheer this season?
