Bufalina
Sixty seconds is all that’s required to bake a Bufalina pizza. But the East Austin pizza joint is so popular, patrons can wait upwards of 60 minutes for a table. The Backspace
When it opened, The Backspace served some of the only wood-fired Neopolitan pizza in Austin. There are more options today, but The Backspace is certainly still a favorite. The downtown Austin pizza joint is just 10 minutes’ walk from AMLI on 2nd.
East Side Pies
If it’s good pizza you’re after, don’t let East Side Pies’ decidedly unloved interior put you off. You’ll miss out on some of the most creative pizza sauces and generous topping portions in Austin. The original location on Rosewood is a 10-minute walk from AMLI Eastside. You can also score East Side Pies’ pizza on Airport Blvd. and West Anderson.
DeSano Pizzeria Napoletana
Austin is one of a handful of places around the country where you can enjoy Nashville’s beloved DeSano pizza. The challenge here is to save room for one of DeSano’s signature dessert pies.
Frank & Angie’s
When it comes to old-school, Sicilian-style pizza in Austin, there’s no place like Frank & Angie’s. Baked with care, knowledge, and love, Frank & Angie’s 18-inch pies are more memorable that most. You don’t go to Hoboken Pie for the ambience. You go for the high-quality, affordable pizza. This no-frills, Jersey-inspired Austin pizzeria is a 10-minute walk from AMLI Eastside.
Home Slice Pizza
The decor at this South Congress joint pays homage to New York’s iconic pizza scene. But Home Slice does more than talk the talk. If the wait for a table is too long, pick up a to-go slice or pie from Home Slice’s take-away counter. The restaurant and counter a five-minute drive from AMLI South Shore. Home Slice is slated to open an outpost in Austin’s North Loop soon.
Little Deli + Pizza
Little Deli feels like more of a sandwich shop than a pizzeria, but its pies are some of the most underrated in Austin. If authentic Northeast-style pies are your pizza jam, check out Little Deli.
Second Bar + Kitchen
Don’t make a reservation at this downtown hot spot if you’re after an old-school pie in a no-frills setting. If you like hip, trendy settings and are open to inventive culinary twists, dine at Second Bar. The restaurant’s signature Black + Bleu pizza is topped with bleu cheese, salty pork belly, and caramelized dates. Austin’s Second Bar + Kitchen is a five-minute walk from AMLI Downtown.
Via 313
Austin loves Via 313 so much, the Detroit-style pizzeria now has four thriving locations in the Texas capital. The Rio Grande Street location is less than 10 minutes’ walk from AMLI’s downtown Austin apartment rentals. Additional locations are located on Guadalupe, Rainey Street, and at Oak Hill Centre.
