As the weather continues to heat up in Austin, there’s nothing quite like enjoying a cold drink and nice meal outside with friends and family. The only thing that could make things better? Being able to bring your dog along for the ride! Throughout the city there are plenty of dog-friendly restaurants scattered about, giving you the chance to enjoy an afternoon or evening out without having to watch the sad look in your dog’s eyes as you shut the door behind them. Instead, you can watch their eyes light up and tail wag as they jump in the backseat and head off with you for a good time. Below, we’ve gathered a list of dog-friendly restaurants close to South Shore apartments, some right down the road and others on the other side of Lady Bird Lake. So grab your four-legged friend, grab their leash and get ready to hit the town!
The ABGB
1305 W. Oltorf St.
Voted as the Great American Beer Festival Brewpub of the Year for three years running, the Austin Beer Garden Brewing Company offers a strong trio of customary staples—beer, food and music. Broken into two categories, ABGB has “always” and “sometimes” beers for your choosing, with the “always” sticking around all year long. The “sometimes” may come and go, but there’s also a chance they may come back. With an emphasis on lagers, pilsners and sours, enjoy a cold beer (or a couple) while you munch on a variety of sandwiches, salads and pizzas with your pup right by your side. To make sure your dogs are taken care of, ABGB includes biscuit and watering stations, as well as trees for added shade for when the Austin heat ratchets up. Be sure to head on over to The ABGB every Tuesday through Friday for happy hour, where you can enjoy a off pints and off pitchers from 3-7pm. Located near the South Austin Park, The ABGB is a short 10-minute drive from our East Austin apartments.
Easy Tiger
709 E. Sixth St.
With three different locations throughout Austin, Easy Tiger Bake Shop & Beer Garden features artisan bread, locally roasted coffee, a selection of meats and plenty of beer. No matter if you’re in the mood for a delectable pastry or a piece of their sticky chocolate cake paired, this dog-friendly restaurant includes plenty of outdoor seating and tends to quickly fill up as the weekend rolls around. Even better, Easy Tiger has a brunch menu complete with a variety of early morning cocktails. Both you and your four-legged friend will love it here!
Hi Sign Brewing
1201 Bastrop Highway
Nestled closely to the airport, this dog-friendly brewery has hammocks, picnic tables and plenty of shaded space for both you and your dog to enjoy. What started as an idea in Montana has since then transformed into a tasting room and beer garden right in the heart of East Austin. Take your pick from options such as their Blueberry Blonde, Fiddler Irish Red or Hi-C IPA. You can’t go wrong.
Hops + Grains Brewing
507 Calles St.
Focused on the community just as much as they are beer, Hops + Grains is committed to working with local business and non-profits to continue making central Texas a place we all know and love. To give back, Hops + Grains give 1 percent of their annual revenue to local environmental non-profits to help in supporting community growers and producers. With plenty of IPA’s, lagers and porters to go around, be sure to head on down and give it a go! Dogs are allowed on the outdoor patio, where they can enjoy their time munching on brew biscuit dog treats. Hops + Grains is a short five-minute drive from our South Shore apartments.
