5 Fun Family Outings in Dallas | AMLI Residential

Are family and friends from out of town celebrating Thanksgiving in your Dallas apartment this year? Are you celebrating with just your immediate family and looking for some activities that everyone in the family will enjoy?

If you answered yes to either of these questions, here are some fun experiences you can have over the long, holiday weekend.

Visit the Dallas Zoo

The zoo is always a great place to spend a day with the family, but especially on around Thanksgiving. The day before Thanksgiving is traditionally one of a handful of Dollar Days the zoo holds each year. Admission costs just one dollar for guests ages three and older. Hot dogs, ice cream, and nectar for feeding the lorikeets are also just a dollar. This is one of the ways the Dallas Zoo seeks to give back to the community, and is a great way to appreciate the vast and diverse animal kingdom of which we’re a part. This year’s Dollar Day admission starts today at 9 AM and runs until 4 PM.

Explore Dallas Heritage Village

Nineteenth century Texas was rugged, wild, and exciting. A visit to the Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park will provide your kids with a fun, educational experience and improve everyone’s understanding of what life was like back in the day. A doctor’s office, one-room schoolhouse, model farm with live animals, and old train depot are highlights for many. There’s also an old general store where you can treat yourself to old-fashioned candy and a saloon renowned for its root beer float. Just ten minutes from the uptown Dallas apartments at AMLI Quadrangle, Dallas Heritage Village is a dog-friendly attraction. Just keep your pup on a leash.

See a Play at Dallas Children’s Theater

If you want to sit back, relax, and be entertained this Thanksgiving weekend, catch a show at the Dallas Children’s Theater. It’ll be a rich cultural experience for everyone. Miracle on 34th Street and Not a Creature was Stirring are the shows taking the stage this weekend.

Skate on Ice at the Galleria

Holiday ice skating can lead to memories you will cherish for a lifetime. The Galleria Ice Skating Center’s holiday tree has been installed and the rink is open for business. Check out the venue’s website for public skating hours and to read up on the professional figure skating performances taking to the ice over the next month.

Seek Thrills at Six Flags Over Texas

If your family is filled with thrill seekers, Six Flags Over Texas is a natural destination for some Thanksgiving holiday fun. The 212-acre park has more than 50 rides and several themed recreation areas. Holiday in the Park started on Saturday, which means the park is especially festive right now.

It’s both healthy and wise to balance out the wining, dining, storytelling, and game playing you do in your apartment on Thanksgiving with some fun outside the home. Get out and have fun with your loved ones this Thanksgiving holiday.
