Five Ways to Spend a Rainy Day in Ft. Lauderdale

by
Dec 2nd, 2015

They call Florida the Sunshine State, and although “rainy season” has come to an end, heavy rains can persist well into December during El Niño years like this one. The next time rain throws a wrench at your weekend plans, here are some ways you can have fun at and away from your downtown Ft. Lauderdale apartment.

Have a Movie or Game Day

Rainy days are the perfect time to consume mass media entertainment without feeling guilty. Use your next rainy day to binge on a show you’ve been itching to watch at an accelerated rate or to have a movie marathon with friends. Alternatively, drive ten minutes from AMLI Flagler Village to the Harem Movie Theater to catch the latest flick you’ve been dying to see. If you’re into gaming, you can devote your time to World of Warcraft, DarkFall, or Star Wars.

Hole Up at a Cafe

Are you a writer, reading a great book, or have work you need to catch up on? Take the next rainy day as a sign to hole up in your favorite cafe to make productive headway on your latest book or project. Brew Urban Cafe, Cafe Verdi, La Bonne Crepe, and Le Cafe de Paris are four great options within a mile of AMLI Flagler Village. If you live in an apartment with a cyber lounge or business center, you can work from the comfort of your apartment.

Bake Some Goodies

Put those appliances in your kitchen to good use. Spend the day baking your favorite desserts or slow-cook a meal you otherwise wouldn’t be able to easily prepare on a work day. You can easily bake and have a game day, read, or do work.

Enjoy Some Retail Therapy

Ft. Lauderdale has such an impressive retail scene, even people who feel lukewarm about shopping can spend a day admiring the latest displays at boutiques and department stores. The more than 65 shops on Las Olas Boulevard sell everything from home decor to fashion accessories, and are a great place to look for unique holiday gifts. If you’d rather shop at a mall so you don’t have to go outside every time you want to change locations, The Galleria Ft. Lauderdale, Harbor Shops, and Coral Ridge Mall can all be reached easily from the downtown Ft. Lauderdale apartments at AMLI Flagler Village.

Plan a Museum Day

Between the Ft. Lauderdale Antique Car Museum, NSU Art Museum, and historic houses in the Venice of America, Ft. Lauderdale has a rich and vibrant museum scene. Ogle at your favorite antique car models, appreciate modern art from the NSU collection, or see how the elite lived a century ago at the Ft. Lauderdale Bonnet House and Gardens or Historic Stranahan House Museum. You’ll forget all about the rain, at least for a while.

Planning the right rainy day activity is obviously a matter of preference. Use your imagination to find a great way to spend the next rainy day that comes our way. Ft. Lauderdale has plenty to offer.
