On July 12, the stars of the Atlanta food truck scene will take to the streets to showcase their culinary talents.
If you live in an Atlanta area apartment and don’t already have plans for Saturday, there is no good reason for you not to show up at Piedmont Park to partake in the 3rd Annual Atlanta Street Food Festival.
There are, however, four excellent reasons why you should attend.
1. The Food
Atlanta’s burgeoning food truck scene has garnered national praise, and the mouthwatering concoctions you could enjoy at the 2014 Atlanta Street Food Festival are the most obvious and convincing reason you should attend. From Fry Guy’s ingenious blue cheese fries to Bar Meatball’s classic Italian fare, a selection of more than 40 food trucks guarantees even the pickiest eater can find satisfaction. Dessert will also be available, with Red Velvet Ruby cupcakes and other sweet tooth satisfiers from Yum Yum Dessert Co., Atlanta’s first and favorite dessert food truck, certain to draw a crowd.
2. The Entertainment
The food trucks alone would be enough to draw thousands of Atlantans to the festival, but the presence of talented local musical artists and carnival-style games make it even easier to love this event. Amusement rides for children include a bounce obstacle course, adults can try their hand at the mechanical bull, and entire families can enjoy the classic super swings. Praised by Southern Living Magazine as “one of the top five latest and greatest things to hit the south,” the Atlanta Street Food Festival is a family-friendly event with broad appeal.
3. The Cause
Another excellent reason to attend: To support those in the Atlanta area who are unable to feed themselves during tough times. The event is a benefit for The Giving Kitchen (TGK), an Atlanta-based charity focused on ensuring everyone’s basic needs are met. Tasty meals can be even more satisfying when you know the money you spend on the food you’re devouring will help feed the mouths of hungry children and their families.
4. The Location
Located just one mile from downtown Atlanta and within walking distance via the Eastside Trail of AMLI Parkside, AMLI Ponce Park, and AMLI Old 4th Ward, Piedmont Park is a favorite outdoor haunt for many. If you’re fond of Piedmont Park, then its status as the host site of the Atlanta Street Food Festival gives you one more reason to go. Food, fun, and sun, all in the name of an admirable humanitarian cause, this is what the Atlanta Street Food Festival is all about. Can you think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon? If not, purchase your wristbands in advance to qualify for a food truck discount you can’t get when you buy tickets at the door. If you can’t attend but love street food, check out one of the several food truck congregations held in the Atlanta area on a regular basis, such as the Atlanta Food Truck Park & Market, Alpharetta Food Truck Alley, or Marietta Food Truck Rally.
