Your Guide to the 2014 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

Oct 27th, 2014

Celebrate the latest and greatest in sport and leisure boating and yachting at the 55th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show between October 30 and November 3, 2014.

If you’re into boats and live in the area, the yachting capital of the world, this is where you should be next weekend.

Tickets and Information

As usual, this year’s boat show takes place at many locations throughout Fort Lauderdale. Participating marinas include the Bahia Mar Yachting Center, Hall of Fame Marina, Las Olas Marina, The Sails, and Pier 66. The Broward County Convention Center will also host a lot of the action. All of these venues are conveniently located within a few miles of AMLI Flagler Village apartments in Fort Lauderdale.

One- and two-day general admission, as well as prime time preview tickets, can be purchased online in advance at a discounted rate. They can also be picked up at box offices at Bahia Mar, Las Olas, and the Broward County Convention Center on the days of the show. For a full schedule of events and activities, visit the boat show’s website.

Newly Renovated Pier 66

Located in front of the beautiful Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six, Pier 66 recently underwent a massive 0 million renovation. It now boasts accommodation for 16, 150-foot-long yachts and 127 watercraft in total. A brand new yacht basin, face dock, and electrical system make the marina feel brand new. As well, design changes and upgrades make it more aesthetically pleasing than ever. Some of the most impressive yachts on display at the boat show will be housed at Pier 66, and several events will take place there throughout the weekend.

Boats and Yachts on Display

The latest and greatest from respected manufacturers such as Aegis, Bravo Yachts, Key Largo, Palm Beach, Prestige Yachts, Viking Yachts, YAMAHA, and more than 100 others will be there. From humble fishing boats, high-speed sports boats, and luxurious superyachts to sport yachts,  mega yachts, personal water craft and cruisers, lobster boats and trawlers. You can see first-hand top-rated models from a full range of boating categories. If you’re not looking to buy but want to rent a couple of times a year, this is a great place to scope out what’s available.

Job Fair

If you’re in the market for a job in a shipyard or on the wide open seas, pay a visit to the 2014 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show Job Fair, the first career fair ever to be held at the event. Representatives from more than 20 marine industry companies will be recruiting for the nearly 200 available jobs. This is an excellent opportunity for those who want to work in the industry.

From the opening night fireworks display over the Bahia Mar Marina to the films being screened as part of the Boat Show Film Festival, there will be no shortage of entertainment. Free riverboats will run through the canals all day, and kids can learn about fishing and win angling prizes at the Hook the Future kids’ fishing clinics. Adults can enjoy drinks at the IGFA Sportfishing Lounge and the numerous floating cocktail lounges the boat show is known for. Everyone can enjoy live freediving, hovercraft, kayaking, and paddle boarding demonstrations at AquaZone in the Sailfish Pavilion.

Whatever the nature of your interest in the boating and yachting world is, you’ll find something that fascinates you, enhances your watercraft collection, or helps you achieve your boating-related dreams at the 2014 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. Even if you’re not in the market for any boating equipment, you can appreciate what’s on display and have fun networking and socializing over good food and drinks.

People travel from all over the world to attend this event each year. Take advantage of the fact that your luxury apartment is located just minutes from all the boat show action!
