Maybe you’ve seen it on TV. Maybe you’ve seen it in person. If you live in an Uptown Dallas apartment, you’ve almost definitely heard of it. The “it” we’re referring to is NorthPark Center, one of the largest malls in the country and Dallas’ premier destination for high-fashion shopping. Here’s more about the mall’s history, shops, and service offerings.

History, Art, and Architecture

When it opened in 1965, NorthPark Center was the world’s largest climate-controlled retail center. The mall quickly became a popular destination, and would eventually be the first shopping center ever to be featured in Vogue Magazine.

Decades of uninterrupted success put pressure on the mall to expand. In 2006, NorthPark Center underwent a major renovation that more than doubled its original size. In addition to the retail options, shoppers have long appreciated the mall’s architectural curves, art displays, and abundance of natural light. Eminently appealing, NorthPark Center is one of only a handful of malls of its age that retains a vibrant air and enjoys continued success. Today, the mall boasts annual sales of more than billion.

Shopping

Dillard’s, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom have the most square footage of NorthPark Center’s 225 retailers. Clustered around Neiman Marcus are some of the mall’s high-end shops including Burberry, Cole Haan, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Tag Heuer, and Tiffany & Co. Other popular retailers include J. Crew, Gap, Banana Republic, the North Face, H&M, and the Apple store.

Dining and Entertainment

NorthPark Center features sources of entertainment and nourishment that can help you break up a day spent shopping. You can catch a movie at AMC NorthPark 15, a former sponsor of the American Film Institute’s Dallas International Film Festival. Admire the mall’s internationally renowned art collection. Or grab some fresh air in CenterPark, the 1.4-acre landscaped garden courtyard at the heart of shopping center. The green space is home to several lawns, red oaks, and seasonal flowers.

When hunger strikes, grab a bite to eat at Bazille, Bread Winners, Kona Grill, Maggiano’s Little Italy, or P.F. Chang’s. The Theodore, a bakery and bar specializing in American cuisine concocted by Texas Chef Tim Byres, will be added to the dining mix this fall.

NorthPark Center offers a world of options for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Pay a visit to upgrade your fall wardrobe, shop for gifts for the holidays, or grab dinner and a movie. When you’re wrapped up in the latest fashion, enjoying a bite, or admiring the green space in CenterPark, it’s hard not to Live Life + Love Life.
