Seize the Summer with Fun Entertainment in Denver's Parks

There are many ways to Live Life + Love Life outdoors in Denver and nearby suburbs like Englewood, especially in the summer.

If you want to deviate from your normal routine and add some city park entertainment to your schedule, here’s a look at what’s on tap during the final month of summer.

Belleview Park

This year’s Englewood FunFest has come and gone, but there’s still plenty you can do at Belleview Park this summer. The last Full Moon Yoga in the Park class will be held on Friday, August 28. The park’s seasonal family attractions like the miniature train, Belleview Children’s Farm, and Pirates Cove Family Aquatic Center are open through Labor Day weekend. On Saturday, September 12, you can take your dog to Pirates Cove for the 8th Annual Doggie Plunge, a favorite among Englewood pet owners.

Cherry Creek State Park

Cherry Creek State Park is a sprawling refuge of nature in the Denver area. It’s a great place for a jog or a bike ride on any nice day, and home to a few major annual events. This year’s Denver Food Rescue Ride, an annual bike ride that raises funds for Denver Food Rescue, will take place on August 29. It’ll be followed up by food and entertainment. Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite fruit or vegetable. On September 26, the four-mile Diehl’s Ciderfest Run will be held. All participants get a free hayride following the run.

CityCenter Englewood Amphitheater

In the heart of Englewood, the CityCenter Amphitheater is home to the Sounds of Summer free concert series and Theater in the Park. The last concert of the summer was held a few days ago, but you can catch Theater in the Park show Androcles and the Lion on Thursday, September 11 at 10 AM. The show is free and open to the public.

Civic Center Park

Denver’s Civic Center Park is home to a ton of fun summer action. On August 23, participants of the USA Pro Challenge bike race will cross the finish line after a week of high-altitude pedaling. If it sounds like something you’re interested in, head to the park to celebrate the cyclists’ accomplishment.

From September 4 through 7, A Taste of Colorado will take over downtown Denver. More than 50 restaurants and dozens of musicians are participating this year, including Kansas, Mary Lambert, and local Sensation Rachel and the Ruckus. Many of the events taking place at Civic Center Park throughout the course of the event have no cover charge. If you live at or near AMLI Park Avenue or AMLI Riverfront Park, you’re close to all of the Taste of Colorado action.

Some of the finest nature in the lower 48 states can be found just outside Denver. For their part, the Mile-High City and nearby suburbs like Englewood offer impressive pockets of nature in the form of excellent city parks. Use these parks as a backdrop for fun away from your Denver or Englewood, Colorado apartment this summer.
