5 Creative Ways to Spend a Cold Winter Day in Dallas

by
Jan 22nd, 2018

Dallas is not notorious for its winters, but it certainly has four seasons. This winter started out especially chilly, and is not quite over yet. The next time the mercury takes a dip and you’re itching to get of your apartment, don’t let the cold deter you. The DFW Metroplex offers several indoor activities engaging enough to make you forget the cold winter day outside. Here are five we recommend.

Escape a room

Escaping your Dallas apartment rental on a cold winter day might feel like a challenge. But once you’re engrossed in a room escape adventure, you’ll have a new challenge on your mind. There are more than a dozen escape room games in the DFW area. Highly-rated operators include A Room with a Clue, Escape the Room, Escape This, and Escape Rooms HQ.

Skydive indoors at iFLY

Jumping from a plane at high altitude on a cold winter day probably isn’t particularly pleasant. But simulated skydiving, indoors? Now that doesn’t sound too bad. You get the rush of a skydiving freefall without the height factor. You get the photos to prove you’ve “done it.” And you get to it all from the comfort of a climate-controlled environment. You’ll likely forget all about the cold air outside during the adrenaline rush of your “fall” in iFly’s giant wind tunnel. The indoor skydiving facility is located within close walking distance of AMLI’s Frisco apartments.

Appreciate artistic mastery at Nasher Sculpture Center

The Nasher Sculpture Center in downtown Dallas houses one of the country’s most impressive sculpture collections. It’s easy to take your mind off the cold while admiring works by Willem de Koonig, Henri Matisse, Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso, and Auguste Rodin. The museum is one mile from AMLI Quadrangle’s Uptown Dallas apartments.

Bowl or play games at PINSTACK

PINSTACK is often classified as a bowling alley. But the operation’s sprawling entertainment centers have bumper cars, laser tag, a rock climbing wall, high ropes course, and video game arcade. It’s easy to forget about winter while getting your game on inside PINSTACK’s entertainment centers. The Plano location is a three-minute drive from AMLI’s West Plano apartment rentals. PINSTACK Las Colinas is a 10-minute drive from AMLI at Escena and AMLI Las Colinas. And PINSTACK’s Allen location is a 15-minute drive from AMLI at the Ballpark and AMLI Frisco Crossing.

Bounce around at an indoor trampoline park

Another popular cold winter day activity is a trampoline park visit. Children and adults are welcome to put their skills to the test at DFW’s 16+ indoor trampoline parks. Altitude Trampoline Park has five DFW locations. One of Jumpstreet’s four area trampoline parks is a five-minute drive from AMLI West Plano. Between them, Flight Deck and Urban Air operate many more trampoline parks in Greater Dallas.
