Buckhead, Midtown, and Virginia Highlands are the Atlanta neighborhoods best known for their vibrant nightlife. But if you live in the northern suburb of Alpharetta, you’ve got some excellent cocktail bars and lounges nearby that should not be overlooked. The next time you catch up with a friend over a few drinks or want to impress a date, pay a visit to one of these Alpharetta hot spots.

Bite Bistro & Bar

Quality is the cornerstone of Leif Johnson’s success as a chef and restaurateur. After running a catering company in Dunwoody for five years, he opened this Alpharetta bar and restaurant. Visit for a high-end craft cocktail or glass of wine from a carefully curated list.

Fire and Brimstone Tavern

A sports bar and gastropub with class, Fire and Brimstone Tavern has a vast cocktail menu featuring absinthe drinks and punch bowls for sharing. This dependable watering hole is usually quiet enough for quality catching up, and is just a three-minute drive from the Alpharetta apartments at AMLI North Point.

Hop Alley Brew Pub

With six in-house brews and several rotating guest draughts, Hop Alley is a brewhead’s sanctuary. In addition to beer, fine wine and pub grub are available.

Sage Woodfire Tavern

If ambience is what you’re after, Sage Woodfire Tavern should definitely be on your radar. The atmosphere, wine selection, and fine cuisine make it a great dinner date spot. If you’re just after drinks, this Alpharetta haunt has a nice long bar that can seat plenty of imbibers.

The Velvet Note

The Alpharetta outpost of Georgia’s hottest jazz bar offers an intimate setting for enjoying classy drinks and memorable live music. The Velvet Note only has 40 seats, so make a reservation if you want to secure one of them.

Village Tavern

The wine list is all the rage at this sophisticated restaurant and bar. Village Tavern’s traditional American cuisine has a good reputation. Show up before 7pm for happy hour drink specials.
