New Shops and Restaurants at 16th Street Mall in Denver

by
Aug 17th, 2016

Denver’s iconic 16th Street Mall has played a major role in the Mile High City’s downtown fabric for decades. The nationally renowned retail and dining hub has undergone several facelifts over the years. Today, we look at some of the new, recently renovated, or work-in-progress restaurants and stores on the 16th Street Mall, just a 15-minute walk from the Denver apartment rentals at AMLI Park Avenue.

Krispy Kreme

Krispy Kreme has struggled in some markets over the past few years, but the glazed doughnut purveyor is thriving in Denver. Its 16th Street Mall location, between Court and Tremont, just opened in June 2016. To celebrate, Krispy Kreme concocted four Denver-specific doughnuts and asked patrons to weigh in on which they thought should be the location’s signature fried pastry. They also gave the first 100 customers in line free doughnuts for a year.

Henry’s Tavern

Henry’s Tavern moved into the last remaining gap left behind by Virgin Megastore’s 2009 departure from the Denver Pavilions. The first Colorado location, Henry’s 16th Street Tavern is a versatile option suitable for work lunches, happy hour gatherings, and dinners. The restaurant’s expansive menu features tempura-fried cheese curds, street-style tacos, and wok-inspired noodle dishes. Margaritas, martinis, mojitos, and other handcrafted cocktails keep thirsty mouths satisfied.

The Melt

Premium burgers, panini-style sandwiches, man ‘n’ cheese, and homemade soups are The Melt’s signature menu items. The rapidly growing fast-casual chain opened its 16th Street Mall location last fall, providing mall pedestrians with yet another burger and sandwich joint to choose from. Like The Melt’s other Colorado locations, the 16th Street Mall restaurant also serves wine and locally brewed craft beer.

Uniqlo

Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo is in the process of transforming the former Barnes & Noble space into one of its locations. Construction on the Denver Pavilions location started in April. The store, Colorado’s first, is expected to open for business sometime this fall, and is only the second in the United States that’s not on the East or West coasts.

H&M Home

The H&M at Denver’s 16th Street Mall is not new, but its home collection is. The Swedish clothing retailer expanded its flagship Denver store last year with the addition of a third floor. It is just the sixth H&M store in America to carry the brand’s home line, which features bedroom, bath, kitchen, and other household accessories.
