Are You Ready for the 2015 Seattle Boat Show?

With some of the most well-connected and picturesque waterways in the country, Seattle is a wonderful place for boat lovers. If you like boats and other watercraft and have some free time between January 23 and February 1, 2015 you may want to check out the Seattle Boat Show.

The 67th annual event, held at the CenturyLink Field Event Center and South Lake Union, offers more than just a glimpse at the newest models across the watercraft spectrum. Here are some of the experiences that await you!

Boat Touring/Purchasing Options

The Big Seattle Boat Show, Indoors + Afloat, ranked one of the best in the United States by several boating associations, is a great place to check out the latest and greatest in technology. Vendors show off and sell the hottest boating gear and accessories and more than 1,000 watercraft, ranging from angling to kayaking to yacht, will be on display. Many of these watercraft will be docked in South Lake Union, just a short walk from AMLI South Lake Union and AMLI 535. The boats afloat at South Lake Union can be viewed from 11 AM to 5 PM on weekdays and 10 AM to 5 PM on the weekends.

Educational Seminars

The Seattle Boat Show is not only a place to shop and admire, but a place to learn. More than 200 free seminars are held by experts on topics ranging from crabbing and fishing to maintaining boats and cruising remote Alaskan waters. Many of the seminars are specific to the geography, waters, and biodiversity of the Pacific Northwest.

Wine, Beer and Boats

For those who enjoy craft beer and local wine can indulge in their appreciation of Seattle’s locally produced beverages at official Seattle Boat Show events. The evening events will kick off with Uncorked, a wine tasting that will take place from 5 to 9 PM at the CenturyLink Field Event Center. Award-winning reds and whites from throughout the Evergreen State will be featured.

Sails & Ails Craft Beer Night, will be held on January 30, 2015. Presented by S3 Maritime, Sails and Ails will feature hoppy, malty, and well-balanced brews from more than a dozen of the Pacific Northwest’s most successful craft brewers. Chatting up fellow marine enthusiasts about what you’ve seen and done at the show can be made all the better with a glass of award-winning beer.

Family Friendly Activities

Many of the seminars and a few of the events will be of more interest to adults than children, but the boat show is a family-friendly affair.The Seattle Boat Show Kids Aqua Zone is 100 percent free, and filled with fun and educational activities. Through playing games such as tug-of-war, monkey’s fist, and plankton races, your children can learn how to knot up an anchor rope and develop an understanding of buoyancy.

Regardless of whether you need to do some serious accessory shopping or just want to browse one of the finest collections of new boats, the Seattle Boat Show has something for you. It offers a great platform for amateurs and experts, hobbyists and boating professionals, to celebrate an industry important to them.
