North Atlanta has a ton of great restaurants to try. Discover all your favorites from American-style cuisine, international sensations or classic Southern fare, all without having to venture into downtown. We’ve put together some of our favorite restaurants to try in Piedmont Heights, where you can get everything your taste buds are craving. All of these recommendations are just a short commute from the Lindbergh apartments.
Fat Mack’s Rib Shack
1811 Piedmont Ave. NE
Fat Mack’s Rib Shack is a no-frills counter service restaurant offering barbecue, beer and nightly blues music. This intimate restaurant has all your favorite barbecue plates like ribs, chicken and sandwiches all served with signature line of sauces. Fat Mack’s sides are also make for some seriously delectable comfort foods. Try their rum baked beans, macaroni and cheese, potato salads, coleslaw or Southern collard greens.
Smith’s Olde Bar
1578 Piedmont Ave. NE
This casual spot serves American pub fare in a traditional setting with pool tables and frequent live music. Smith’s Olde Bar offers intimate performances by local Atlanta artists, as well as the opportunity to relax, eat great food, watch your favorite teams on their big screen TV’s and enjoy something new every night. Smith’s has daily menu specials along with usual pub favorites like chicken wings, burgers, sandwiches, salads and more.
Atmosphere
1620 Piedmont Ave. NE
Atmosphere serves traditional French fare and comfort food in a small cottage with outdoor seating. This quaint bistro serves French favorites for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Try their escargot, French cheese plate or steamed muscles as an appetizer along with seafood, meat and vegetarian entrees. Atmosphere also has a large wine list and cocktail selection. They offer valet parking every day, making a stop here even more convenient.
Park Tavern
500 10th St. NE
This stone tavern is located right in Piedmont Park and offers burgers, comfort foods and sushi with beautiful park views. This place has something for every taste, including appetizers, rice bowls, fried chicken and shrimp baskets, sandwiches, tacos and sashimi, as well as an extensive drink menu. Park Tavern is a great place to hang out on their climate-controlled patio. Hours are 4:30pm-midnight on weekdays and from 11:30am-midnight on weekends. Drive for 3 miles towards Piedmont Park from our apartments near Buckhead to get there.
Bangkok Thai
1492 Piedmont Ave. NE, Suite A
This long-running family-friendly eatery serves traditional Thai favorites like pad Thai and curries. Bangkok Thai was one of the first Thai restaurants to open in Atlanta, and has been very successful since opening its doors in 1977. They serve lunch and dinner dishes that incorporate various types of meat, seafood, noodles and vegetarian options—all served with Thai flare. Bangkok Thai also has a large sushi menu, as well as a buy-one-get-one sushi happy hour on Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:30-9pm.
The Colonnade
1879 Cheshire Bridge Road NE
This local joint serves casual fare such as Southern fried chicken and fish in an unpretentious space. The Colonnade is a family-owned and operated restaurant serving a full dinner menu every day of the week, including lunch on the weekends. Be sure to try their homemade salad dressings, sauces, pies and dinner rolls. They also have large portions of chicken, steak, seafood, pork and country vegetables. The chef adds nightly specials so there is always something new to try at this much-loved eatery.
