Home to designer boutiques, specialty shops, and two of Atlanta’s most popular indoor shopping malls, Buckhead is an excellent district for shopping. Just about anything you’d want to buy can be found within a few square miles.
We shine the spotlight on two malls located less than three miles from the Buckhead luxury apartments at AMLI Lindbergh and AMLI Piedmont Heights.
Lenox Square Mall
People from all over the southeastern United States flock to Buckhead to shop at Lenox Square Mall, one of the largest and most successful shopping centers in the country. Since opening in 1959, this upscale, fully enclosed regional retail powerhouse has nearly doubled in size. Today, it offers over one million square feet of retail and service space. Its most recent expansion, completed in 2014, resulted in a nice face lift.
Anchored by Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, and Neiman Marcus, Lenox Square Mall is home to the largest Pottery Barn and one of the largest Forever 21 stores in the country. Some of the other luxury retailers shoppers come for are Bulgari, Burberry, Diesel, Fendi, Ferragamo, J. Crew, Louis Vuitton, and Ralph Lauren. Lenox Square Mall, less than three miles from AMLI Lindbergh and AMLI Piedmont Heights, also has a Tesla Motors.
Shops Around Lenox Square Mall
The space right around Lenox Square Mall hosts 16 retail stores, restaurants, and workout studios that some group with the mall. American Apparel, CorePower Yoga, Crate & Barrel, Fab’rik, lululemon athletics, Swank, The Impeccable Pig, and Tootsies are among them. Using one of the busiest and most well-served MARTA stations, you can get from AMLI Lindbergh or AMLI Piedmont Heights to Lenox Square Mall and the shops nearby in just over five minutes.
Phipps Plaza
Another Simon Center complex, Phipps Plaza is known for its opulent interiors and luxury retailers. When Phipps Plaza opened its doors in 1969, it was the first multi-level mall in Atlanta. The center’s mahogany walls, marble floors, and shimmering chandeliers drew attention from visitors when it first opened, and it has withstood the test of time. Few malls built in the 1960s remain as aesthetically appealing or as popular as Phipps does. The latest major development was the construction of a 2 million Legoland® Discovery Center.
Phipps Plaza’s anchor retailers are Belk, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Additional stores directory include Agent Provocateur, Giorgio Armani, Hublo, Hugo Boss, Tory Burch, Valentino, Versace, and Giuseppe Zanotti. Highly regarded restaurants at the mall include Steve DiFillippo’s Davio’s northern Italian steakhouse, The Tavern at Phipps, and Yebo South African cuisine. Adjacent to the Phipps Tower office building, Phipps Plaza is a ten-minute drive from AMLI Lindbergh and AMLI Piedmont Heights.
Together, the retail shops and restaurants at Lenox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza generate some one billion dollars to the United States economy annually. Convenient access to these well-endowed shopping centers is a major perk of living in Buckhead apartments.
