Shopping Around Houston

by
Jun 25th, 2018

Houston is the largest city in the South (fourth largest in the US) and is home to some of the best shopping in the country. The city has many distinct shopping areas from vintage boutiques to high-end fashion shops. Best of all, AMLI’s Houston apartments are sprinkled all around the city and happen to be close by many of the best shopping centers and neighborhoods with one-of-a-kind boutiques you can’t miss.

Here are some of our favorites for shopping in Houston and why they stand out. Grab your wallet, let’s go shopping!

Houston Premium Outlets

This outlet mall is HUGE. It’s got over 145 stores to choose from, including Burberry, Coach, Michael Kors, Nike, True Religion, J Crew and several others. Located off U.S. Highway 290 West in Cypress, Houston Premier Outlets offers upscale shopping with big savings. This single-level shopping area has an upscale atmosphere with village-style architecture, and is a great place to shop year-round with its covered outdoor walkways.

Westheimer Curve

Lined with chic boutiques and cheap thrift shops, art and antiques and plenty of bars and restaurants, Westheimer Curve is a perfect place to spend the day. Located along lower Westheimer between Dunlavy and Montrose, this shopping area offers a fun and easy stroll for all ages. This area is filled with local shops, making it a great place to support the community.

Houston Heights

Just Northwest of Downtown, this historic neighborhood is full of character. Houston Heights is home to mom and pop shops, funky restaurants, quaint boutiques, thrift stores, antique shops and intimate cafes. Another reason we love Houston Heights is their “First Saturday Arts Market” where live music, crafts, plants and artwork are on display every first Saturday of the month. It’s a place worth checking out no matter what you’re shopping for.

Shops at Houston Center

Located In the heart of downtown, the shops at Houston Center offers a variety of dining, shopping, pharmacies and other services. This is the perfect destination for the Downtowner on the go. Whether you’re looking for a new gadget, a sleek outfit, a good meal or to pick up a prescription—you can find it here.

Rice Village

Located in the West University area, Rice Village is one of the most sought-after shopping districts in the city. Hosting over 300 shops, this pedestrian-friendly area appeals to families and young professionals alike. You can find fashion-forward local and national stores, restaurants and pubs. Rice Village extends over 16 city blocks and is one of Houston’s oldest shopping districts.

Highland Village Shopping Center

Located on Westheimer Road, this mixed-use shopping center offers clothing shop such as Anthropology, home goods stores like Crate and Barrel and a variety of restaurants. This outdoor area has pristine landscaping and is a nice place to walk around any time of day.

River Oaks Shopping Center

This high-end, outdoor shopping area located in the River Oaks District, is home to Dior, Stella McCartney, Harry Winston, Cartier and many other luxury retailers. There are 14 restaurants scattered throughout the shopping center, some with courtyard-style patios where you can relax after a long day of shopping. Not only is the shopping great, but the building architecture and landscaping are things of beauty. The grounds are well maintained and lovely to just walk around and window shop.
