Summer is starting to blossom all around the country. Plan your June with our list of best things to do, including early-summer festivals, food events and much more near AMLI apartments all around the country.  The sun is shining, so get that sunblock on and go experience all June has to offer.

Atlanta

June 9: Hot air balloon fest

See hot air balloons up close, watch them glow and take a tethered ride during Balloons Over Fayette Festival. The fest also has food trucks, music performances, a kids’ zone and crafts. Fun for the whole family. General admission is only .

June 16: Summer beer festival

Enjoy 200 beers, two stages of live music and food for sale at Atlanta Summer Beer Fest at Historic Fourth Ward Park for ages 21+. Tickets are 5 (5 at the door) and include entry, a souvenir cup and all beer, wine and cider samples. Doors open at 4pm and the fest ends at 8pm.

June 16 & 17: Grilled cheese festival

Pay an entry fee plus - for samples from competing restaurants, and then vote for your favorites at Atlanta Grilled Cheese Festival, with food trucks, brews, live local music and all kinds of contests and activities at Brookhaven Park. Saturday is only ages 21+.

June 9-24: Abba musical

Mamma Mia! is a rousing dance musical and story of love and friendship featuring popular Abba songs at Ferst Center for the Arts. Tickets start at 0 and parking is free.

Austin

June 7-10: ATX Television Festival

ATX Festival is the first festival devoted to television’s history and future. It functions like a traditional film festival with premieres of new series, current hits and cult favorites. ATX Television Festival also offers access to the industry’s leading professionals with cast and creator Q&A’s and panels focusing on innovation in both production and content delivery.

June 15-17: Father’s Day chocolate & whiskey pairing

Let Dad kick back and relax this Father’s Day. Join Delysia Chocolatier Father’s Day weekend for complimentary chocolate tastings and whiskey pairings. They’ll feature chocolate truffle flavors like smoked salted bourbon pecan and cigar. Walk-ins welcome. No reservations or tickets necessary.

June 23: Austin Ice Cream Festival

The Annual Austin Ice Cream Festival is fun for the whole family. Games, activities, contests, live entertainment and of course, ice cream, will keep you cool and happy. The event will be held at Fiesta Gardens, tickets start at 5.

June 23: Fun Stop 5K & Fest

Formerly known as Keep Austin Weird Fest & 5K, this is the only 5K in Downtown Austin that allows alcoholic beverages on the route and the only 5K with more than 12 outrageously fun stops along the way. Dress up in your quirkiest costume, release your ninja skills at the obstacle course stop and cool down at the foam party fun stop. Performances from local bands and more, rocking into the night.

Chicago

June 16 & 17: Food truck fest

Pilsen Food Truck Social has dozens of food trucks, local restaurants, live music, craft vendors and kids’ activities on 18th Street (from Racine Avenue to Throop Street). A percentage of the 2018 proceeds will benefit the Illinois Food Truck & Trailer Owners Association, St. Procopius Church soup kitchen and food pantry, ArtReach Chicago and Chicago Dia De Los Ninos Parade Dream Scholarship Fund.

June 13: Restaurant crawl

A ticket to this restaurant crawl gets you samples from 20 restaurants and discounts at shops on Clark Street and Diversey Parkway, beginning at HopCat.  Food lovers of all shapes and sizes get your forks, knives, and spoons ready because you won’t be able to resist the savory and sweet dishes at the fourth annual Cravings on Clark restaurant crawl. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Lakeview Pantry.

June 23 & 24: Highland Park art festival

Free and open to the public, The Art Center Festival of Fine Arts will showcase the work of 100-juried artists from around the world in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, painting, sculpture and more. In addition to the incredible artwork available for purchase, attendees will be able to interact with artists through demonstrations and booth chats.

Dallas

June 7: Wind Sculptures in Motion

The copper wind sculptures of Lyman Whitaker, one of the most recognized creators of kinetic art in the world, will be on display at the Dallas Arboretum for two months.  The gardens are open daily from 9am to 5pm.

June 9: Fair Park Sparks

Come out and celebrate summer at Fair Park Sparks with live entertainment, interactive kids activities, inflatables, rides, face painters and more. The night ends with a spectacular fireworks show. Admission is free! Food drinks and other activities will also be going on throughout the night. The event runs from 2pm to 10pm.

June 15 & 16: Beer Mansion Dallas

This first-ever event will be held at Brooklyn Brewery. This beer bash will be a celebration of beer, food and music. It will bring Dallas’ favorite breweries, local artists, and bands together for a two-day, beer-fueled party.

June 23: Decks in the Park

Decks in the Park is Dallas’s largest free outdoor summer concert festival drawing 7,000-10,000 people to Klyde Warren Park. Listen to over eight DJ’s from 5pm to 10pm.

Denver

June 1-15: Lit Fest

Lit Fest is an annual summer celebration of the literary arts. There will be a variety of workshops, parties, seminars, salons, agent consultations and more. There is something for everyone—fiction, nonfiction, memoir, poetry and screenwriting.

June 9: Sun-Drenched Music Fest

Kick off the summer season at Denver Beer Co. Canworks’ parking lot for an afternoon of summer jams. Enjoy live music all day, sand volleyball, beach games and, of course, beer!  There will be live music all day, special pairings, sand volleyball and beach games. The event runs from 2pm to 9pm.

June 15-17: Denver Comic Con

Denver Comic Con brings comics creators film and television directors, producers and writers from all aspects of the popular arts together with their fans for a fun and often times candid discussion of various art forms. Event to be held at the Colorado Convention Center.

June 24: Cochon555

This luxury food festival is a unique three-hour culinary experience of delight and wonderment. Feast on responsibly raised heritage breed pig, ethically sourced food and sip a variety of beverages from local craft breweries, distilleries and wineries, all created by some of the city’s most forward-thinking food and drink leaders.

Houston

June 9: Throwdown Texas Burger & Music Fest

The third annual Throwdown Texas Burger & Music Fest hits Town Green Park from noon to 9pm.  Guests can expect burgers and sliders from local eateries and restaurants, a burger throwdown, craft beers, live country music, a kid zone, shopping and more.

June 15-17: International Gem & Jewelry Show

You’re sure to be dazzled by the International Gem & Jewelry Show’s unmatched display of gems, jewelry, beads, accessories and minerals. One can shop from rows and rows of quality vendors. This competitive atmosphere drives prices to rock-bottom levels giving one the highest value at the lowest cost.

June 15-17: Galveston Cajun Festival

The third annual Galveston Cajun Festival, set for Father’s Day weekend, will celebrate the best of Texas- and Louisiana-styled food, family fun, and live entertainment—island style! This event will be held at Beach Central Park at the Hotel Galvez. Admission is only !

June 16: Margarita festival

Soak up the summer fun at the Summer Showdown Margarita Festival hosted by Showcase Kingwood. Come out on Saturday, June 16th from noon to 8pm and sample dozens of fun and unique margarita flavors both on the rocks and frozen. Jam out to live music from a variety of “island vibe” bands.

Seattle

June 9 & 10: Free state park days

On State Parks Free Days, you can hike, picnic, and play at any of the 140 Washington State Parks for free.

June 24: Scandinavian festival

This festival celebrates the summer solstice with music, dance, and vendors at Saint Edward State Park in Kenmore. Experience contributions from all of the Nordic and Baltic countries that are rich in cultural diversity. Event runs from 11 am to 6pm. Admission is free!

June 27: Food truck tasting

A ticket to Food Truck Taste Off includes “one sample from every truck and one full-size dish from the truck of your choice” in Hangar 30 at Magnuson Park. Event guests will sample a signature dish from each food truck and vote for the best, and the winning truck will receive a prize. The event will also include music, a beer and cider garden and raffle prizes.

June 29: Seattle Night Ride

The 15-mile night bike ride starts at Peddler Brewing, follows bike trails to Myrtle Edwards Park for snacks, and returns to the start for a party with a food truck, beer and games. Costumes and bike accessories are welcome and highly encouraged! Bike ride starts at 9pm.

Southern California

June 7-24: Hollywood Fringe Festival

Check out productions that are presented by local, national and international arts companies and independent performers at more than two dozen venues in Hollywood and Los Angeles.

June 8-10 and 15-17: Lavender Festival

The 14th annual event promises all kinds of family fun, including guided tours in horse-drawn carriages of the largest organic lavender farm in Southern California. Also, take part in demonstrations on how lavender oil is extracted, opportunities to taste lavender-inspired dishes and live music. Admission is for adults.

June 16 & 17: L.A. Roadsters Show

This event showcases hundreds of 1930’s and older open cars of all types and makes. Cars will be displayed during this 54th annual event in Pomona.

June 23: Mariachi USA Festival

Mariachi bands from the United States and Mexico are on the lineup for the 29th annual event, which also includes folkloric dance troupes and a brilliant show-ending fireworks display. Tickets start at 3.45. Event will be held at the Hollywood Bowl.

South Florida

June 1-30: Miami Film Month

Miami Film Month is about spectacular film festivals, film tours, art cinemas and films at participating theaters. From niche indies to internationally renowned and critically-acclaimed films, Miami Film Month has something for everyone.

June 23 &24: Redland Summer Fruit Festival

The Summer Fruit Festival showcases locally grown produce and fruits, this is your chance to try all sorts of “exotic” fruits as well as seasonal delicious ripe fruits with fantastic summer flavor. The event runs 10am to 5pm. Admission is only !

June 30: Flock Fest

FlockFest is about gathering with friends in paradise to enjoy one another right on the beach. Your ticket comes with a t-shirt, bag, sunglasses, towel and a beach chair.
