Whether you prefer the convenience of a pre-cut lot close to home or want to make a day of it at a cut-your-own farm, the Frisco, Addison and Plano areas offer plenty of options. This guide covers both local tree lots within a short drive of our North Dallas apartments and a few destination farms worth the extra mileage.
Where to find holiday trees in Frisco & North Dallas
Pre-cut holiday tree lots in North Dallas
If you want fresh trees without the drive, these lots are all within about seven miles of our apartments in Frisco and offer a range of species and services to make tree shopping easy.
Christmas Traditions Inc. – Frisco
Christmas Traditions has been serving North Texas since 2002, displaying hundreds of trees under large tents to create a tree farm atmosphere without the long drive. The family-owned operation stocks Douglas Fir, Noble Fir, Nordmann Fir and Fraser Fir in all popular sizes.
The staff provides full service including fresh-cutting the base, shaking out loose needles, baling trees in netting and tying them to your vehicle. They will even install your tree stand if you purchase one on-site, and tree preservative and disposal bags are also available. They have a second location in McKinney, too!
Shades of Green Nursery + Landscape
Shades of Green is a full-service garden center that becomes a bona-fide holiday destination during the holiday season, with the nursery property providing a scenic setting to select your tree while browsing garden supplies, tools and gifts. They offer a variety of tree sizes and shapes with custom flocking available if you want the classic snow-covered look.
Moomey Christmas Trees
Moomey Christmas Trees is a three-generation family tradition that started in 1958 with Fred and Dot Moomey, with all the trees grown and shipped directly from established Michigan farms. They carry Fraser Fir, Black Hills Spruce, Blue Spruce, White Pine and Douglas Fir in sizes from tabletop to 18 feet tall!
The team wraps each tree and ties it to your vehicle, and delivery is also available if you don’t want the hassle of transporting it yourself. They also sell wreaths and pure Michigan maple syrup, just to add to the overall holiday vibe!
Savvy's Christmas Trees
Savvy's is a locally owned lot offering premium Oregon-grown firs that are hand-selected for freshness and quality, including Noble Fir, Nordmann Fir and Fraser Fir along with wreaths and garlands. The staff loads trees and ties them to vehicles, and delivery is available within a 30-mile radius with extended delivery available beyond that range.
One unique service is short-term tree rentals for events, parties and photo shoots, which makes Savvy's a good option for businesses or anyone hosting a holiday gathering who wants a real tree without the long-term commitment.
Calloway's Nursery
Calloway's is a Texas-based nursery chain with 21 locations across the DFW area, and all their Noble and Fraser Fir holiday trees are sourced from U.S. family farms. Trees arrive fresh at stores, are cut again and kept in water to maximize their longevity!
Services include on-site loading, pickup, delivery, custom flocking and snow-tipped options, and a premium water stand is included with each tree. Calloway's emphasizes sustainability through balanced harvesting and replanting practices, and the nursery also carries poinsettias, wreaths and garlands along with its year-round garden center inventory.
North Pole Farms
North Pole Farms is a bit further south but worth mentioning for its 45-plus years of operation and premium tree selection.
This family-run lot specializes in Grade A trees, which is the highest grading for fullness and shape. Here, you can find a variety of trees that include Blue Ridge Fraser Firs grown at 4,000 feet elevation in the North Carolina mountains along with Alpine Noble Firs from the Pacific Northwest.
Trees range from 4 to 12 feet and are kept in water with weekly fresh deliveries throughout the season. Same-day delivery and curbside pickup are available, and the lot is located in the Forestwood Antique Mall parking lot with an old-fashioned tree lot atmosphere that regulars appreciate.
Cut-your-own holiday tree farms
If you want to make tree shopping an all-day adventure, these farms offer the chance to cut your own tree along with activities like hayrides, farm animals and visits with Santa. The drive is longer but the experience is part of the tradition.
Elves Christmas Tree Farm
Located about an hour north of our luxury Frisco apartments, Elves Christmas Tree Farm is a family-run operation that has supplied the official holiday trees for the Texas State Capitol for over 14 years — an impressive achievement which speaks to the quality of their trees. The farm offers choose-and-cut Virginia Pine and Arizona Cypress along with a pre-cut lot featuring Nordman Fir, Noble Fir, Grand Fir and Fraser Fir. Additional activities include hayrides, mazes and educational tours.
KaJiN Christmas Tree Farm
About 45 minutes northeast near Rockwall, KaJiN Farm has a Cajun theme reflecting the family's time living in New Orleans. The farm offers choose-and-cut Virginia Pines and Arizona Cypress along with pre-cut Fraser Firs from North Carolina.
The farm experience includes mini train rides, hayrides, a visit with Lady the mini horse and cabbage ball, which is New Orleans-style baseball played without gloves. Wreaths are made on-site from fir branches, and Santa visits on weekends for an extra special meet-and-greet opportunity with kids! The farm can also deliver to Dallas for an additional fee.
Mainstay Farm Park
Found just a bit south of Fort Worth, Mainstay bills itself as the Biggest Backyard in Texas with a whopping 70 acres of activities. Only pre-cut North Carolina Fraser Firs are available as choose-and-cut is not offered, but the farm experience makes up for it.
Admission includes access to over 30 attractions including the 85-foot Texas Big Wheel ferris wheel, tubing hill, jumping pillows and train rides. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive each day with a drumline entrance, and the property includes a winery with Mainstay Farm wines, a wine terrace serving mulled wine and a full food menu with street tacos, burgers and brisket sandwiches. Fresh wreaths are available in the Haymarket gift shop.
Haynie's Green Acres Christmas Tree Farm
About an hour south of Fort Worth, Haynie's has been a family-owned staple since 1978 and is known for their colorful flocked trees. While choose-and-cut availability varies by year, they consistently offer Texas-grown Virginia Pine, Blue Ice and Carolina Sapphire along with pre-cut Fraser Firs. Their signature is flocked trees available in white, red, purple, pink, blue and black.
Activities here include free tractor-drawn hayrides, a playground, swings and a petting zoo with donkeys and horses, and complimentary hot cider and coffee are provided. Kids receive candy canes and coloring books, and the gift shop sells ornaments and handmade wreaths. There is no admission fee, and the farm participates in the One Warm Coat Initiative and encourages coat donations.
Kadee Christmas Tree Farm
Located about an hour east of North Dallas, Kadee Farm is a convenient destination for anyone traveling from Dallas, Rockwall, Garland, Richardson, our West Plano apartments and McKinney. Here, they offer choose-and-cut Virginia Pines along with pre-cut Fraser Fir, Blue Spruce, White Pine and Black Hills Spruce trees that range from 4 to 14 feet.
The farm features a lights trail from late November through mid-December, plus s'mores by the firepit after dark and a vendor market takes place on opening weekend!
For a quick local trip, Christmas Traditions or Shades of Green or the are all within a few miles of Frisco and Addison. If you want a full family day, Mainstay Farm Park offers the most activities while KaJiN and Haynie's provide solid farm experiences with choose-and-cut options. Moomey Christmas Trees stands out for its long history and Michigan-grown inventory, and Elves Christmas Tree Farm carries the distinction of supplying trees to the Texas Capitol.
Tree lots and farms tend to open the day after Thanksgiving and run through mid to late December or until they sell out, so it is worth checking with your chosen destination before heading out since hours and availability can change quickly as the season progresses. Most lots offer tree wrapping and help tying trees to vehicles, and delivery is available at several locations for an additional fee.
Whatever option you choose, bringing home a real holiday tree to your Dallas apartment remains one of the best ways to start the holiday season. The scent of fresh pine or fir, the family outing to pick out the right tree and the tradition of decorating it together create memories that last well beyond the holidays.
Have fun!
