Austin’s certainly the place to be for community, self-expression and, most importantly, fun! Whether your interests lie in Austin’s art, music, culture or history, there’s always something for everyone. That includes sports!
Here are some of Austin’s sports teams that have loyal fanbases, great community and some great outlets for entertainment and participation! If you live in our Austin apartments, then maybe you’ll find your next favorite sport at one of these teams’ games!

This women’s football league has been playing and crushing competition since 2001. It’s currently in the Women’s Football Alliance, which was established in 2009 and is the largest 11-on-11 women’s football league in the nation.
Central Texas Wolfpack

Type: League
The National Public Safety Football League features teams from all over the country who serve in law enforcement. The league was formed in order to raise awareness of law enforcement and to generate camaraderie between departments, all the while raising funds for the teams’ communities.
Austin Blacks Rugby

Type: Club
The Austin Blacks Rugby Club was the first rugby club to be founded in the Southwestern United States, established in Austin in 1962. The club achieved many milestones in rugby’s relatively short history in Texas, from establishing the first club to hosting the first tournament to owning their own clubhouse (only two teams still have their own clubhouse today)!
Austin Huns

Did someone say “national champions?” Oh, that must have been the Austin Huns, because in 2017 they tackled the Division I National Championship from the New York Athletic Club like it was nothing. The team, which was established in 1972, was the first Austin rugby team to win a DI championship, and the second rugby team in Texas to do so after the Dallas Harlequins.
Austin Valkyries Women’s Rugby

As Austin’s one and only women’s rugby club, the Valkyries are an incredibly accomplished amateur team that has managed to score multiple division-level appearances, wins and rankings. If you’re looking for a community of women that will support you both on and off the field, then women’s rugby is the place to be. I’m serious. Do it.
Austin Gilgronis

Named after a cocktail created by the team’s owners, the Gilgronis have been playing in the Major League Rugby circuit since 2017. The men’s team is composed of players from all over the world, including South Africa, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Tonga, Chile, Samoa and, of course, the United States.
Austin Bold FC

This Division II professional soccer team has been entertaining Austin’s soccer fans since early 2017 and plays in the United Soccer League Championship (USL). Their fans are passionate, energetic and every game is a rollercoaster of enjoyment for everyone involved!
Austin FC

The Austin Football Club, while not yet officially open, is scheduled to be the first top-division major professional sports team in Austin and the surrounding area. They will compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the 2021 season in their brand-new Q2 Stadium in the North Burnet area of Austin.
FC Austin Elite

Talk about #goals! The FC Austin Elite team provides an opportunity for women soccer players to stay active and involved in the sport during their off-seasons. The team offers coaching, competition, sponsorship and community to players from all over the country so that each athlete can refine their skills to the best of their abilities.
Austin SOL

This professional team shows that pursuing ultimate Frisbee in college is an absolutely viable option for a career!
The team is only six years old, but their games never cease to draw plenty of loyal fans at all their various Austin locations. Their mission is to connect with the fun, weird and bubbly community that makes Austin what it is, and they encourage people of all ages to stay healthy and happy by tossing discs. What’s better than that?
Austin Spurs

Type: League
The Austin Spurs are part of the NBA Gatorade League and are an affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs. If you want to see them in action, they can be found at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park from November to March. Pandemics aside, of course.
Round Rock Express

As the minor league affiliate of the Houston Astros, the Round Rock Express entertains Austin fans all summer long at their stadium just north of the city.
Texas Roller Derby
Banked track roller derby

If you’re looking for some genuine entertainment and exhilarating excitement, then this banked-track roller derby is the place to go. Seriously!
The Austin-based league features eight teams, which compete locally and in surrounding areas. This is the only roller derby league in the country that allows fighting and penalty wheels, so there’s sure to be more than enough adrenaline to go around when watching these Austin teams play!
Texas Rollergirls
Flat track roller derby

The Texas Rollergirls are credited with kicking off the modern flat track roller derby movement in the United States! Their amateur league, which was founded in early 2003, established revamped rules and standardized tracks that drew inspiration from classic banked tracks, and the new version of flat track roller derby has been spreading across the country ever since!
Texas Stars
Ice hockey
Type: League
Operating as an affiliate league to the NHL’s Dallas Stars, the Texas Stars are Austin’s favorite AHL team around! They can be found playing at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park October through April.
