Denver's Lower Downtown neighborhood is best known for its historic buildings, proximity to Coors Field and Union Station and a dining scene that seems to grow by the month.
But tucked between the brewpubs and cocktail bars is a wine scene that's quietly become one of the most interesting in the city. Whether you're into California-sourced small-batch bottles, Italian wines made on-site from imported grapes or Colorado's emerging natural wine movement, LoDo and the surrounding walkable neighborhoods have a number of dedicated wine spots that are well worth exploring.
Here's a look at the wineries and tasting rooms you can reach on foot in the area around our LoDo Denver apartments!
Best LoDo wineries & tasting rooms in Denver
Blanchard Family Wines
Blanchard Family Wines sits inside the Dairy Block, the mixed-use micro-district just two blocks south of Coors Field.
The tasting room here is the Denver outpost of a winery founded by brothers James and Mark Blanchard (one based in Colorado, the other in California) who produce limited-run, handcrafted wines sourced from top Sonoma Valley vineyards.
What sets Blanchard apart from a typical wine bar is the way the wine is served. Eight of their award-winning wines come straight from the tap, a system that eliminates oxidation and light exposure so every glass is poured at peak freshness. It also reduces the winery's carbon footprint, which is a nice bonus!
Beyond their own California wines, the tasting room also features a selection of Colorado wines from Western Slope and Front Range producers, both of which offer a good way to explore what the state's own wine industry has to offer. You can order by the glass or opt for a flight if you want to sample across their impressive lineup.
Food pairings are available too, including cheese and charcuterie boards and locally sourced desserts. For something a little more structured, Blanchard offers wine and chocolate pairing experiences and wine education sessions, as well as a wine club!
Corridor 44 Champagne Bar & Restaurant
Corridor 44 has been a fixture in Larimer Square since 2005 and holds the distinction of being Denver's only dedicated champagne bar! The name comes from the 44-foot corridor that connects the front lounge to a private back room, with the whole space leaning into a French-coast-meets-Morocco vibe with leather banquettes, crystal chandeliers and striped walls.
The champagne list is extensive (as in, over 115 bottles!) along with 18 champagne cocktails and champagne martinis, and there's also a full wine list and a complete bar if someone in your group isn't feeling particularly bubbly. Champagne flights are one of the most popular ways to experience the bar, and happy hour specials on champagne cocktails make it more approachable price-wise than you might expect from a place with chandeliers.
The location in historic Larimer Square puts it within easy walking distance of the Denver Performing Arts Center and the Convention Center, which makes it a natural pre-show or post-work stop. It's also one of the few upscale wine-focused spots in the area that stays open until 2am every night, so it works just as well for a late-night glass. And if you're into that sort of thing, ask the staff about the building's resident ghost — they enjoy telling the story!
The Velvet Cellar
The Velvet Cellar is one of LoDo's fairly newer additions and is housed inside the historic Saddlery Building, one of the last grand warehouse buildings in the neighborhood and just a block from Union Station. Co-owners Reilly Chunn and Chris Dominey are childhood friends from Alabama who spent more than five years developing the concept, and their combined 30 years of hospitality experience shows in the execution of the space and service!
Wine really is the centerpiece here, with a curated list of 300-400 labels to select from. The program is designed to be welcoming whether you know your way around a wine list or not, and the staff prides itself on meeting guests wherever they are. Thursday Night Flights are a popular draw, and happy hour specials run Tuesday through Friday from 4-6pm.
The tasteful food menu here blends New American cooking with Southern Gulf Coast influences and changes seasonally. Think shareable plates, quality steaks and inventive desserts like ube crème brûlée!
Wine Dispensary LoDo
Found just a block away from our apartments in LoDo Denver near Union Station, the Wine Dispensary is part boutique wine shop and part neighborhood wine bar found right on Commons Park.
The shop focuses on "winegrower wines," which are bottles from producers who control every step from vineyard to cellar. The curation has earned recognition too: Wine Dispensary picked up two Wine-Searcher Silver Medals for 2025/26 in the European List and Overall List categories for Denver!
The big draw for casual visitors is the free weekly tasting program! Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4-7pm you can walk in (no reservation needed) and sample what the staff has selected for the week. Whatever level of knowledge you have about wine, this really is one of the most accessible wine experiences in LoDo.
Beyond tastings, they offer wine club memberships at several tiers, private sommelier services and their proprietary "Somm Say™" digital wine tasting games. The space itself has a modern-warehouse feel that's cozy without being cramped, with a wine bar area, comfortable seating and a walk-in craft beer cooler in the back.
Bigsby's Folly Craft Winery & Restaurant
A bit farther afield but still reachable from LoDo — it’s a little closer to our RiNo apartments in Denver! — Bigsby's Folly is a full-production craft winery housed in a restored 1886 warehouse in the RiNo Art District. The space is dramatic: 30-foot ceilings, 10-foot chandeliers and a Roaring '20s-inspired atmosphere that reviewers frequently compare to visiting Napa!
Bigsby's collaborates with California's top vineyards, with wines crafted by winemaker Brian Graham. Their signature experience is the "Folly-5" wine flight: five house wines paired with sweet and savory bites from the executive chef. If you’re hungry for more, the full dinner menu changes seasonally and weekend brunch runs on both Saturday and Sunday.
One of the more unique offerings is the opportunity to create your own custom-labeled souvenir bottles, where you can put your own photo on a bottle of their Red Bordeaux Blend, Sauvignon Blanc or Rosé!
LoDo's wine scene may not get the same attention as its craft beer culture, but the variety is there if you know where to look. From established champagne bars and Sonoma-sourced tasting rooms to Colorado natural wine producers making their first mark, there's something for just about every palate for those living in or near our luxury Denver apartments!
Enjoy!
