Spring has finally sprung!! And with that looms summer…or as I like to call it, festival season! But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. We found some things to do near our residents in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Seattle, SoCal, and Southern Florida. We continue our DIY Series this month with a spotlight on our Featured DIYer and grand prize winner of the My AMLI DIY contest, Lacie Herrin. Lacie rolled up her sleeves and tackled a functional (and gorgeous!) DIY coffee table for her apartment. We asked her to tell us a bit more about her project and found out everything from her inspiration, design style, what materials she used, the cost, and what advice she has for other DIYers. DIY projects are a great way to create impressive decor for your apartment…plus it makes you feel good to add that personal touch to your home. There’s nothing better than hearing “I love that bench, where did you buy it?” And responding with a casual, “Oh, that old thing? If you don’t remember, a few months ago we asked our residents to show us their DIY skills and submit their best project for their apartment. It could have been something fixed, restored, an upgrade to apartment décor, an organization system, something made from scratch…the sky was the limit as long as it didn’t modify or structurally change their apartment. I was blown away by our residents’ creativity and DIY skills. We saw everything from headboards made with pallets to tables made from wine crates to reupholstered furniture to plumbing pipes used as bookshelves, and so much more.
