It’s no secret that some of our favorite residents have four legs. So when the AMLI Paw-parazzi Pet Photo Contest began receiving entries, it was almost impossible to pick winners. Somehow the judges were able to make a decision, though, and Boomer found herself with a regional win. The photo showed Boomer making AMLI home by taking a bath in AMLI Lofts’ paw wash.
We caught up with Boomer’s human, Dawn Zakarian, to find out more about her life in Chicago’s hip South Loop. It turns out this young pup isn’t quite the pink-shower-cap-wearing-princess she appears to be. With wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as hobbies, there’s a lot more to Boomer than meticulous grooming habits!
Tell us about Boomer.
Boomer is 8 1/2 months old. She was born July 1, 2015 and is a female Viszla.
Is she your first pet?
My fiancé, Brian, and I are both dog lovers and have had dogs before but never a Vizsla. Boomer is the first pet we’ve shared together.
How did you decide to get her?
We wanted a dog who was active and great with kids. The Vizsla breed seemed like a perfect fit for us.
Does Boomer know any tricks?
We’re still working on tricks. She’s mastered sits and downs. I’m not sure this would be considered a trick but Boomer has been known to squeeze through the gates in the AMLI dog park and disappear!
She loves wrestling with other dogs and is currently mastering her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills. Bully sticks are her favorite treats.
Is she more affectionate or an independent sort?
Boomer is very affectionate. She loves cuddling as well as playing with all her puppy and dog friends here at AMLI Lofts.
If Boomer could talk, what would she tell us about you?
She would probably tell you how much we love Chicago.
