This Chicago consignment shop has some unique and affordable products to turn your apartment into a home. It’s a must-stop for anyone looking to add personality to their home or wardrobe.

Humboldt House in Chicago is a showroom and shop featuring textiles, accent pieces, housewares and vintage modern furniture in casual digs. On top of that, it’s a great place where you’ll find one-of-a-kind products and gifts made by local artists.

Located in Humboldt Park, Humboldt House is an easy (and worthwhile) commute from any of AMLI’s Chicago apartments. Here’s a round-up of the different items this Chicago consignment shop is currently carrying along with the contributing local artists.

Check out the Tisane candles that are made of soy wax and is hand poured in small batches with a burn time of approximately 16 hours. If you’re looking for unique planters, mugs, plates or platters for your home, this store should be on your list. This large 16-ounce speckled mug is made using speckled tan clay and white glaze. The designer, Christi Ahee, is a local Chicago ceramic artist who focuses on beautiful, fully functional pieces that are inspired from natural and celestial landscapes.

Jewelry is the finishing touch that can bring an entire look together. Gift your friends or yourself with unique rings, necklaces, bangles or earrings. We like this 14k gold filled sphere necklace that comes in three color variations. It’s made locally by Cursive Designs. This Chicago-based jeweler hand makes every piece in a way that is wearable for every day but also makes a bold statement.

Rugs and blankets

Adding in the perfect rug or blanket in your apartment can dramatically change the look and feel of your space. Rugs and blankets are an especially nice addition to smaller areas since they don’t take up much space—yet they add a ton of personality and comfort to your home. Check out this vintage Turkish Anatolia black tribal striped rug or this vintage Moroccan Azilal wool rug.

Wall art

Wall art can transform your blank, boring apartment walls and even your entire space. Wall art is an easy way to enhance the interior design of any room. There are several different mediums and colors to try out to add texture and pizazz! We love these handmade triangle mirrors by Chicago based designer Norman Leigh. They add a statement with the sharp angles and wood frame. Leigh focuses on building and designing furniture and home decor using reclaimed materials—much of the material is found around Chicago!
