The Essentials for 1 Bedroom Apartments

by
Sep 10th, 2012

Have you just found the perfect 1 bedroom apartment and you’re more than ready to get moved in? While we know you’re excited, there are some things to plan for before stepping foot into your new home. Things such as which utilities you’ll need to use, finding out your move-in date and essential items that you should stock up on beforehand all need to be taken into consideration. And speaking of those necessary items you’ll need prior to moving, we’ve put together a list of some of the essentials you’ll need for your new, 1 bedroom apartment: 1. Toilet Paper You might find this one funny, but toilet paper is an essential item to have as soon as you move in. Stock up on a larger amount of rolls (you can find them in bulk at places like Costco or Sam’s Club) so you aren’t having to make unnecessary trips to the grocery store to pick up more. Plus, you don’t want to be caught in a bind without T.P. when you really need it! 2. Condiments Other essential items to stock up on before moving in and as soon as you get settled are different types of condiments. Everything from salt, pepper, mayo, soy sauce, ketchup, olive oil and mustard are good items to get in advance. Pick out your favorite (and necessary) condiments and start stocking up your new fridge. 3. First Aid Kit Accidents are bound to happen and, sometimes, small bumps and bruises show up on a busy day of moving in. A first aid kit is essential to have in your new 1 bedroom apartment not only for move-in day, but to have on hand for future incidents as well. Trust us, you’ll be thankful you have this one in your new apartment when a headache strikes or scrap occurs! 4. Everyday Tools Especially if you plan on hanging up a lot of pictures or putting together new furniture, a small tool kit with important tools such as hammers, nails, a leveler and measuring tape is great to have in your new apartment home. You never know when you might need to put something together or repair an item, and having a tool kit in your 1 bedroom apartment will help you be and stay prepared. 5. Dish Soap Dish soap and/or a sponge is a necessity when you’re first moving into your new apartment. Not only will you want to rinse off and wash dishes as soon as you unpack them from the box, but you’ll want (and need) to eat during the move in process and (obviously) after. While these are only five items necessary to have on hand in a 1 bedroom apartment, there are still lots more that are needed to make your apartment truly a home.
