Eating & Drinking in LoDo: Four Hip Establishments to Check Out

by
Apr 28th, 2014

Lower Downtown, or LoDo, is one of Denver’s “it” neighborhoods. Home to several luxury apartment communities and the workspace of thousands of Denverites, there is continuous demand for food and drink in the area. Enthusiastic restaurateurs and first-class brewers have responded to this demand with gusto, resulting in a host of excellent eateries and watering holes. Four popular LoDo restaurants every downtown Denver resident should try at least once include the following.

Blake Street Tavern

For years, Blake Street Tavern has been a LoDo tradition. Situated one block north of Coors Field, a prime location is just one thing this accolade-collecting restaurant and bar has going. The game day atmosphere is a bit rowdy, but they have delicious food (the nachos are a must) and a great beer list. Overall it’s a fun place with a social atmosphere.

Blake Street Vault

Built in 1863, The Blake Street Vault is one of Denver’s oldest and most historic buildings. Over 100 years ago, the building housed a saloon where workers from the city’s first business district could retire. In the 1880s, a secret basement vault was added. For more than a century, the building was not a place where one could order beer or wine. Today, this recognizable brick structure located at 1526 Blake Street is once again a cozy watering hole, as well as a place that cooks up classic American cuisine with a Colorado flair.

Breckenridge Colorado Craft Brewery

If you like craft beer and there is an element of Colorado pride inside of you, then Breckenridge Colorado Craft Brewery is a place you will enjoy. The brewery serves 32 mouthwatering brews straight from the tap. A top-rated sports bar with several well-positioned televisions and culinary artisans who know what patrons want, Breckenridge Colorado Craft is a prime LoDo location for catching a game.

Freshcraft

Located next door to the Blake Street Vault, Freshcraft brands itself a purveyor of “upscale comfort food.” With less of a sports bar atmosphere, Freshcraft may offer a welcome respite from chaos of other LoDo bars and restaurants on game day. This restaurant smartly separates its dishes according to their size, offering snacks, small bites, medium bites, and large bites. With an extensive collection of carefully selected craft brews, several wine vintages, and mixed cocktails, there is an appropriate beverage pairing for every dish on the menu. All of these restaurants are a 15 minute walk from Riverfront Park, a neighborhood of downtown Denver. The next time you want to switch things up, check out one of these great options. It is easier to Live Life + Love Life when you have good options, and LoDo can compete with any other other neighborhood in Denver for culture, food, and drink. What is your favorite place in the neighborhood to grab a drink or a bite to eat? Like what you just read? Why not subscribe to the AMLI Blog so you don’t miss another post?
