7 Best Places to Ice Skate in South Florida

by
Jan 9th, 2017

During the sweltering summer months, ice skating in South Florida serves as a refreshing escape from the heat. In the wintertime, a skate session can temporarily transport you to a place that at least somewhat resembles the traditional hallmarks of the season. And when you leave the rink behind, you don’t have to worry about scraping ice from your windshield or whether you’re wearing enough layers. Here are seven South Florida venues where you can experience this sweet escape.

Basement Miami

Basement offers a unique opportunity to combine traditional nightlife with ice skating. Check out the Miami Beach night club’s calendar of events to find a band or DJ you like, and to see whether the rink will be open or closed during the show. Also home to a bowling alley, Basement is the only place we know where you can bowl, ice skate, and get down on the dance floor without changing venues.

Florida Panthers IceDen

The official practice facility of the Florida Panthers, the IceDen is one of Broward County’s most popular places to ice skate. In addition to open skating sessions, figure skating lessons and hockey classes are offered throughout the week. On weekend nights, DJs and a light show transform the space into something resembling a nightclub.

Glacier Ice and Snow Arena

This massive Pompano Beach rink is open for morning and afternoon public skating seven days a week. It’s also open Sunday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. Glacier is one of the region’s most popular places to learn to ice skate.

Kendall Ice Arena

Kendall Ice Arena, home to two ice skating rinks, is another venue that hosts public skating sessions seven days a week. On the ice hockey front, the arena offers classes, camps, clinics, and league play for youth and adults. Kendall Ice Arena is a 20-minute drive from AMLI Doral and AMLI Dadeland apartments.

Palm Beach Ice Works

The newest ice skating facility in South Florida, Palm Beach Ice Works is clean and modern. Its Olympic-sized rink is used by professionals for training and amateurs for learning and recreation. From early morning until late evening, there’s almost always something going on at Palm Beach Ice Works. Check the schedule before going to find out what.

Palm Beach Skate Zone

Palm Beach’s other ice skating destination houses two ice rinks and offers year-round skate school. With a rollerskating rink and arcade, it’s an ideal place to throw children’s birthday parties.

Pines Ice Arena

Daily public skating sessions are held at this family-friendly ice skating venue. Pines also offers an array of ice skating lessons and hockey classes, for individuals and groups, children and adults.
